Pre Cast 2015

On Thursday 21 May 2015, our Lyndsey Barrow, and Tracy Carlisle attended PRECAST 2015, an event hosted by the British Pre Cast Federation at the Leicester Tigers Stadium.

This is the second year that we have been invited to exhibit at the event, at which delegates were able to attend seminars on key industry topics such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), health & safety and technical matters. Safe loading demonstrations also took place outside of the stadium.

Should you be looking for either a temporary or permanent role within the Pre Cast Concrete industry or be looking to speak to recruitment professionals in this niche area, we would be pleased to speak to you on 0115 940 0968.

Net Temps Pass External Health And Safety Audit

We have recently voluntarily submitted our health and safety management systems to the scrutiny of an external health and safety assessor for the purposes of renewing our accreditation with the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS).

CHAS is a founder member of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) Competence Forum, and both CHAS and SSIP require members to demonstrate compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 and Core Stage 1 health and safety competence.

The successful renewal of our CHAS accreditation, together with our existing health and safety accreditations with SMAS, and Worksafe and our affiliation with the pre-qualification schemes of Achilles UVDB and the PICS consortium all demonstrate our commitment to health and safety in the workplace.

Full details of our associations and accreditations appear here.

Should you require any further details in respect of our health and safety practices, or how we place health and safety at the heart of our recruitment strategy, please contact our offices on 0115 940 0968 or by e mail to

Net Temps grows its business

According to Government figures, the construction industry is showing signs of real recovery from the recession, driven by the demand for new housing and infrastructure. Specifically the Government has recently reported that new construction work continues to grow and grew as a whole by 7.4% last year compared to 2013.

Net Temps has witnessed this growth first hand, having benefited from new key client acquisitions after aligning its business proposition more closely to its clients requirements. As well as now being able to offer our clients a full and complete one stop shop for construction workers and construction professionals, following the creation of new piling, cranes and plant operative divisions, the Company is also pleased to report that it has recruited 2 more specialist staff. We therefore welcome Gavan O’Neill, and Charlotte Ashton to the business and look forward to announcing further strategic appointments in the near future.

Whilst we are busy welcoming our new recruits, we must not however forget the achievements of our existing staff. Lyndsey Barrow (Senior Management Consultant) has recently achieved 9 years service with us, which demonstrates our high staff retention rates and Laura Dewis (Financial Controller) has just qualified as an Accountant after studying in her spare time.

The business is therefore well placed to meet its existing client demands and continue to provide our existing and prospective clients with innovative recruitment solutions.

CSCS Card Renewal

For labourers, the CSCS green card is just as important as having boots, high vis and helmet to gain access to construction sites. The majority of our clients require us to supply workers with a valid CSCS Card, therefore if you are a labourer it is vitally important that you ensure that you do not allow your card to expire in order to improve your chances of securing work.

What if your card is about to expire? On 1 July 2014, the rules around applying for the cards tightened up. In addition, to being required to have passed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environmental Test within two years of applying for your new CSCS green card you will now also need to hold one of the following qualifications to be able to receive your new card:

• QCF/SCQF Level 1 Award Health & Safety in a Construction Environment; or
• One day site safety plus Health & Safety Awareness Course; or
• IOSH Working Safely course.

These three qualifications can be obtained from approved training centres, across the country, but may take some time to attain depending upon your existing skills, qualifications and experience.

According to the CITB, the organisation which issues the cards, the changes to the eligibility criteria arose following construction industry feedback. The feedback revealed that it was essential that all labourers had a good working knowledge of the most common health and safety risks on construction sites and that there had to be consistency with regards to how that health and safety knowledge was imparted.

Accordingly, Net Temps recommends that if you are a labourer and your CSCS green card is about to expire, you start taking steps to familiarise yourself with the new renewal process as soon as possible to avoid being without your card and having your employment prospects reduced. Temporary Positions

As a recruitment construction specialist, Net Temps understands that health and safety is of paramount importance to both our clients and our workers. This is why we have placed health and safety at the heart of our recruitment processes and embedded this philosophy in everything that we do, from initially registering a new candidate to the conclusion of that candidate’s assignment with one of our clients.

We are now pleased to announce that we have externally trained Consultants able to carry out the following health and safety assessments on our workers in order to provide our clients with added value and extra peace of mind. All of the assessments can be provided either on the first day of a worker’s assignment or as required.

Face Fit Assessments – Our consultants can now conduct face fit assessments using professional specialist equipment to be able to determine how well a respirator seals to the face.

Drug & Alcohol Testing – Our consultants are able to determine within a 30-minute assessment using bespoke equipment whether a worker is fit to attend for work.

Manual Handling Training – Our specially trained consultants are able to provide professional one to one or group manual handling training, consisting in a verbal presentation of practical issues faced within the workplace. This is supported by relevant videos and a short worker assessment.

In addition to the above, we are also able to arrange for our workers to receive Asbestos Awareness Training – This consists in on-line webinar training which concludes in an assessment of the course content. Those workers that successfully complete the course receive a certificate.

Should you require any further information with regards to the health and safety training and assessments that we provide, please do not hesitate to contact us.
